Yeah, eventually you just have to stop waiting and do it. I have been waiting 2-3 years for the new idrive (and never buying the first year of a major redeign from BMW, e.g. 2007 X5), so when I saw the $4,500, I finally went for it, rather than wait for the 2011 restyle. I certainly could be wrong, but I doubt that BMW NA will have incentives on the 2011 X5 when it is launched, meaning the wait for me would drag-out at least months beyond a March 2011 launch, waiting for a good deal.

The current 3.0 just didn't have enough zip for me, and I had a hard time going for the V-8, since (a) the additional cost is significant, (b) the V8 is not as sweet of an engine as the I6's, and (c) the mpg is rather abysmal. So I found the diesel with the incentive the perfect match for me.

If having the latest styling is important, then it makes sense to wait for the 2011 model. For me, that wasn't worth waiting for, while the new idrive system was.

So it all depends on your particular situation and priorities...
