Question: How will it take to arrive the vehicle at my dealer? I live in Northern Virginia.

You can expect it to be @ your dealer by Tuesday/wednesday.....coz mine took 5 days (friday-tuesday) ... I am in CT

Thanks - I am keeping my fingers crossed.

By the way mine is also 2010 5xd, manaco blue with black interior.
Did you get all your options? I am not sure about mine. Each time I checked the status on the web, listing of options varied each time - sometimes complete - sometimes a few missing

Just got the call today from my CA that our X5 is finally here. We're going to pick it up today! We ordered it on 10/18....so, the wait wasn't too bad.

BMW web page shows that my X5d is at the 'Preperation' Center. Does anyone know where is this Preperatiob Center located? How long it will takes to get here in Northern VA from the Preperation Center? Thanks.

Does anyone know about how long it takes for transport from Spartanburg, SC to California? The website says it is at the prep center, but the phone says it is going to the port of exit, I assume it means the VPC?

It took from November 13 until December 9 to get to Oregon. My understanding is that it takes a train to SoCal and then a truck to Oregon. So maybe 1-2 days shorter for you if it comes by truck. Maybe even shorter than that since mine was transported over Thanksgiving and I am not sure if transport stopped at that time.

I ordered my X5 at the end of October and had a production date of November 10th or so. The car was completed November 17th and shipped out soon after. It arrived in Oxnard, CA on Dec. 4th and was at my dealership on Dec. 17th.

So, the entire process took almost exactly two months. I'm also in N. CA, by the way. Contact your salesperson for more accurate info.

Hey cmyX6go, sorry for the delay in write up :)
I don't have the photos yet as the weather is not good in CT for good pictures ;)

Picked up my x35d Vermillion Red w/Saddle Brown in Connecticut yesterday.

The GOOD:

Already have around 150 miles, computer says two readings 20.8 and 25.6 mpg!
I really like the color better in real than in photos. The leather seats are too good :)
The order came just as I wanted it. It took two hours to complete all the formalities and get out of the dealer ship.
Overall exterior and interior looks great, I like the large outside mirrors and the high seating position.
Nav system is far superior, screen clarity is excellent ( I don't have back up camera - so no comments)
idrive is easy to use, did not have any issues while using as of now.

The SO-SO:
Need to get used to the diesel engine growl.
I got it with Michelin, I feel there is lot of road noise (This is my first BMW and I am coming from 2007 MDX with Michelin )
Dealer couldn't supply promised carpet floor mats, said they are on national back order so went with the regular rubber mats (with BMW logo) due to the upcoming bad weather.

My concerns, I would appreciate if any experienced member would reply back :

1. Michelin RFT, there is too much of road noise. Is it common or something to look into as the dealer will be calling me next saturday again for if I have any concerns.
2. I am planning to keep this X5 for 5/6 years based on its reliability. So should I go for extended warranty - $ 2595(6yrs/100K/$50 deductible), extended maintenance - $ 2295 (2 years) and tire/rim protection from third party - $ 527 ( 5 years)

Thanks to everyone for helping me to get a great deal and taking care of me when I was low in waiting for my X5d...

Regards :)

I would hold off on the extended warranty. You can always buy it later, make you you like the car first. Also, I would never buy the tire/rim thing.

For the RFTs, at least you have the Michelins. Don't get me started on the Bridgestones! I had a MDX a couple of years ago and the X5 feels closer to the road and part of that is more noise than the MDX regardless of the tire. That said, I find in general that good normal tires are quieter than run flats.

You can find zillions of threads around the net about run flats. So I won't get that discussion going again!

Enjoy the new X5!
