sorry i didn't see your last post until after my post came up... i was working off an older cached version of the page... I do agree NJ has that quirky law that throws me off everytime i visit... though I don't think I care about what they put in as much as what they charged me...

no worries...

We've got the "what they charge me" problem licked, prices in NJ are pretty low, now if the stations could just hire people with IQ's above 8 ;)

never really had the problem.... but its a small price to pay for not having to go pump your own.... in freezing, icy, windy, smelly..... welll you know what I mean. :)

The same thing happened to me a couple years ago. It's one of many reasons why NJ is my least favourite state.

they always seem to give me a double take and ask me a rhetorical question when i say "fill it up on super" i guess they figure a 19 yr old kid cant afford to fill it up with super? :dunno:

I don't know why, but I remember pumping my own gas a year ago when I was refilling the rental car in NJ... No one confronted me about it or anything. Was someone sleeping on the job???

One of my first jobs when I was 16 was pumping gas in Oregon. I referred to my job title as "petroleum transfer engineer". You do have to watch those guy because usually it's a teenager or no-brainer doing it. I knew the owner of the gas station and he let me work after school. But the guys that came thru working there where a little nutty and high. I think you would have to be if you were 40 and pumping gas for minimum wage.

It's ok, NJ doesn't like asian kids posing as Europeans either :) so you're even :bustingup

Grew up in NJ, travel to OR each year and enjoy the convenience on pampering myself in my own car while filling up. Yet, I have consistent neck cramps from looking over my shoulder and in the right side rear view mirror to make sure of:

1. Correct fuel being used
2. Slamming the fuel cover
3. Listening for the click click of the cap
4. And how many F&*King times they just whip the pump out of the filler and drip the gas all over my car....then have to get out, grab a napkin and wipe off the excess gas the IDIOT was too careless to prevent...

When I'm back in NJ, seeing the kids, I always get out of the car while getting gas,
say hi to the guy, and keep a casual eyeball on him. When I lived there, I never had
a problem pumping my own into my m'cycles...

I agree it's shoddy service in many of the joints, but those pump jockeys aren't making plumbers' hourly dough.

And, your car will never blink over this, T/R! ;)
