I actuallly emailed my SA and he was telling me that they needed the smart phone integration and that'd cost me $400-500 cdn for that yikes

If that is indeed the part # I'm going to go bug him about that too when I go in for my rattle fix

Thanks for posting. I had called the dealer a couple of months ago about this. An SA called back and told me it needed programming. In all he gave me a quote for around $300. I believe he also mentioned a new cable. So, in your case, you just got the cable and there was no programming. That's good. Time to give the boys at the dealership a visit.

FWIW I have the smartphone integration and it works flawlessly with the iPhone 3GS

All-righty now! As of last night (Feb. 4) I can confirm that the above Y-Cable allows a 3GS 32GB iPhone to charge AND playback via iDrive through the center console jack[s] of a '10 X5d, built early October '10. Two previous cables (one from delivery, and the other "upgraded" in early December) did not permit charging, but did allow "iPod" playback of the stated iPhone. SA claims to be aware that CCMs (Communication Control Modules) change over time in the production schedule, and getting the correct Y-Cable can be a hit-or-miss proposition. Nice ! ! :yikes:
