order delays?
 

My dealer called today to say they can't get me a production number on my order that I placed 2-3 weeks back and that it could be mid July or later. They said they are backlogged with orders on the 35d (ordered so many) and can't get slots. Wasn't clear if it was a dealer or BMW issue. Anyone else heard of back orders on 35d? Wondering if this is unique to me/my dealer or things in general.

I don't have any reason to believe I'm personally getting screwed as the dealer has had plenty of business from me in the past. It appears they may compensate with a loaner to keep me sweet.

Yeah, I ordered 3.5d 2 weeks ago, and the production will only start in the first week of July. They are only producing limited number of diesels. Dont know why, but I'd guess it is because they dont want to run out of allowed allocation of vehicles produced to claim the diesel tax rebate ??? Or maybe there is a shortage or something.

My sales guy told me tonight that there is high demand for the X5 in general and they can't get as many as they could sell. This is a pretty large dealership with strong allocations. Sounds like the 2011 is off to a strong start.

Sounds kind of silly. I just can't see bmw getting more orders on 60k plus trucks than they can handle in this economy. Then again my dealer told me 45 days for anything from sc and 60 from germany. I can't see why demand would go up for an lci x diesel(or any engine) considering vehicle sales in general have been slow. With that said I am still down to give away the money for the new new haha

i placed my order on 5/19 and its got a production date of 6/22 (per the 800 number)...should get it in July.
So the 45 days seems valid.

I ordered 35i premium on 5/19. Production finished on 6/4. Picked it up at dealer on 6/14. Fresh coat (x3) of zaino on 6/17. Couldn't be happier.

Hey Alex our trucks have the same production date, keep me posted on when yours reaches the dealership - I have a lease return during the first week of August so it better be here by then!

I put my order in about a week ago for my 50i and my CA told me it should go into production next week and be here by the end of July. I guess a month and a half is about right.

My order date for the 35d was 5/27 and the dealer still does not have a build date from the factory four weeks later. Is anyone else in this stalled state?

If you are posting in this thread, please indicate if you're talking about a 35d or something else. I believe only the 35d has significant delays.

if you have the production number (dealer should be able to give it to you), call the 800 number and talk to the operator to get the production week. They usually have it.
