I am considering a CPO 2007 X5 3.0 with:

Premium Package
Technology Package
Rear Entertainment DVD
Rear Climate
Front Heated Seats
3rd Row Seating
Sirius
iPod

CPO Warranty is until 6/14/2013. Dealer is asking $38,988 for it. Space Grey exterior / Black nevada leather interior.

What do you think? Deal or no deal?

Better have almost no miles on it for that price! I.e. NO DEAL.

What was the original invoice price for that car in 2007?

Subtract off 50 cents per mile, or $5-6k per year.

Remember KBB and Edminds are scams- their 'trade in' prices are what retail should be.

An here is THE MOST IMPORTANT ADVICE YOU WILL RECEIVE: Do not rely on the CPO as the 'inspection'- get your own done at an independent shop... too many cpos are cosmetic BS, done simply to allow a dealer to charge more. great warranty, but that it all you can count on. Do your own PPI.

I am in the DC area and I have found 3 X5's but the dealers are not moving much on price even though they all know that I have been to 4 different dealers. They come down about 2k out the gate off the Internet prices listed on their website, but not much more.

Here's what I'm now considering:

2007, BMW X5, 3.0si

Miles: 33,060
Colors: Space Grey / Black
Options: Automatic Trans, Premium Package, Technology Package, Rear Entertainment, Cold Weather Package, 3rd Row Seating, iPod/USB, Sat Radio, Running Boards
Factory Maintenance Until: 04/18/2011, CPO Warranty Expires: 04/18/2013

They were asking $42,000 but went down to $40,000. I noted to the sales rep today that there was damage to the passenger side front tire side wall from it appears hitting a curb. He said they would look at. Now doubt they were going to try to sell this as CPO.

Any pointers in terms of getting these dealers lower?

Original invoice price for the car was $59,720 which includes $775.00 destination fee. 33,060 miles puts us at $43190 if I assume correctly?

I bought my 2008 with similar equipment for 53K back when BMW was offering the large incentives. So for me, 40K for a 2007 with those miles is no deal. Trust me, if it was the other way around they would kill you on that as a trade.

My best negotiation strategy is always to make sure they know you have other options and when I am ready to buy, I tell them I am giving my best offer and will buy that day.

Make sure you check the condition of the tires. If they are the originals, expect to be replacing them very soon. That will cost you another $1000+.

What should be a reasonable offer for a CPO 2007 X5 with 30k miles be? I looked at the service records for this X and it was a 3 year lease, 10k miles per year.

I realize dealer has to pay around 2k to get it CPO'd but looking at the tires etc, they didn't replace much (if anything at all).

Sorry, you are correct, it was MSRP.

I don't see how this is a bad deal. Most CPO '07 4.8's are going for mid to upper $40K's. And this is a 3.0.
