Despite the ownership change, still the same production line in the UK.

wow you can see such British favoritism from Clarkson on the Range Rover. He did mention the negatives but in no way would he talk about a BMW like he did with that for the positives.

Yes, this is true. Soilhull and Castle Bromwich in the UK for Land Rover and Jaguar. TaTa is now talking about building a plant in India or China, but so far all products are still built in British factories (that have had hundreds of millions of £'s of modernizing and improvements).

The Range Rover and Range Rover Sport both got HUGE updates for 2010. AWESOME new interiors and powerful, more efficient engines. The interiors are actually amazing...and blow away the X5, ML and Cayenne!!

Yeah my cousin purchased the 2010, she loves it. Both of the girls at home:

I drove the 07 rr s before leasing my 07 x5 and once again drove the 2010 rrs before leasing my 2011 x5. There are minor improvements but I seriously cannot understand everyone's apparent love for the interior. It is cramped, the touch screen annoys the hell out of me, and I do not find the materials to be amazing. I do not think a loaded rrs interior is higher quality than a 2011 cayene lux interior or an x5 with nappa etc? I do however like the look of the full size rr and feel its interior is of exceptional quality (reliable or not). Additionally, I do not like the back end....reminds me of a grand cherokee. All in all when your behind the wheel of a range rover you cant help but chuckle a bit ( as i did on the test drive). Something feels regal I guess. I scared the shit out of the salesman when I swerved towards some power lines exclaiming lets test the suspension off road!

BMW sold Land Rover to Ford in 2000. Ford then sold Land Rover (and Jaguar) to Tata in 2008.

RR Sport is completely different from Range Rover. It is based on LR3 platform (=Ford parts bin), which explains the so-so road manners, cheaper interior and lower price than RR.

GAM3OVR,

Sorry to say that I thought about your posts yesterday. You may ask why.

I was on the Merritt Parkway yesterday afternoon and I passed a RR Sport. It wasn't very difficult to pass. It was driving about 20 mph and had hazard lights on. So I guess it was yet another one needing repairs...

Good luck anyway. I don't mind the styling of the RR Sport. I have done the "Land Rover Experience" in a RR Sport at the Biltmore in NC and was very impressed with the off-roading capabilities. I did not enjoy the short trip that we had on the highway though (as it did not track well) -- maybe that particular vehicle needed to be retired though.
