I used to gamble when I was younger. Had a Maserati, got lucky. Had a Ferrari, got lucky. Had a Land Rover Disco II, not so lucky!

The other side of the coin: I have a 20-year old Range Rover that gets no love whatsoever yet it's been 100% reliable (he says, crossing his fingers).

I had a Discovery II, facelifted model, TD5, 5MT. Terrible vehicle. Paid the lease company something north of 3500 GBP to get out of it early, which was well worth it. My favourite line from my dealer in Staffordshire: "They all do that". I heard that lot. I think about it whenever I see a thread about Landrovers, no matter who owns them at the time.

The Defender went anywhere. The Range Rover had road manners. The Discovery was just an unfortunate collection of parts that didn't hold up to either the Defender or the Range Rover.

To the OP: I hope your new LR works out better than mine did.

Could you imagine Toyota or BP using that line ? LR is lucky they don't have any fatalities from faulty engineering---at least not yet.

I'm getting a lot of attention in this car. Lots of eye fu**king from the ladies and it's great to tell you the truth. Big grin on my face every time I pass one of them. Getting a lot of love from the guys, and had bunch of teenagers yell Nice car when I passed by. I've been super impressed and car has been solid so far. I'm contemplating purchasing another one. Walked into dealer to pick up some paper work and this gorgeous car had just arrived. Very tempting!

I think it's time you went off to those other forums that LeMansX5 was kind enough to tell you about. We don't need any more pics of fugly cars -- it REALLY does NOT look good in white...

Haha you would be that guy. Lots of eye f'n he says. If your the kind of guy who is not use to that gold digger nonsense already then you probably cannot afford the new white special edition/storm trooper sport.(no offense its just the obvious;)) I saw one the other day at my local dealer and it looks so gaudy and aftermarket.

For mine, Toyota's "It's an isolated case", is far worst than "They all do that". At least LR is honest.

Either way LR's on-going problem has been indifferent built quality more than anything else. The original Discovery wasn't a bad thing given that it was little more than a late '80s Range Rover with a different body. The trouble was that the more that LR fiddled with the Discovery, the worse it became, sinking to a low point with the Discovery II. The Discovery 3, a clean-sheet design under Ford, then got the company somewhat back on the rails even if Ford never quite managed to solve the quality control problems which in fact had got worse under BMW stewardship.

You realize that you are in the wrong forum, don't you? This one is for E70s. There are lots of other forums on xoutpost, and many are very happy to see you post, but this should be in the lounge. Later, when you have troubles finding a place to get it fixed, there is a dealer forum you might want to check out. After that, there is a 'non-BMW SUV items for sale' forum here that you may find useful. Hope you enjoy the vehicle, and the attention on the street, before you get to that, though.

I've never seen a more jealous crowd than you guys. I posted the same pictures on Infiniti board, since I own one and also on MBWorld where I also own a E55 AMG. Everyone had nothing to say but congrats and praise the car. Given than you guys know RRS is above BMW, so much hate is on here. Don't worry buddy, If I can afford a 80K car, I can afford to fix it too. I don't keep cars more than when the warranty expires, usually around 40K. Not going to be a problem for me!
