Sorry about blowing the browser width. If it'll help, I can get better pictures of whatever transducer that is attached to your empty lug...

Thanks , BigAl.
This is bugging me quite a bit. I think I'm going to print it out and show it to the dealer and see what they have to say. But then again, you don't have it either, chip4. So what gives? BigAl, you probably didn't pay close attention to that individual part but do you know what that's connected to? |
I see lots of shiny aluminum bit$ in the 2011 version.
As for the linkage, could it be part of the HID headlight leveling system? :dunno: |
Maybe it's part of a rear air suspension package?
Do you have the rear air suspension BigAl? Chip4? |
Autoque -I think you are on to something, The only performance option on the x35d is the Adaptive drive (according bmwusa.com) which is supposed to be active-roll and electronic damping. I think the "Air Suspension" has now been or sometimes labeled as -Self-leveling Suspension -which is what I think he has. But on other models i.e. 5series -this is part of the Dynamic Driving Control.
Im begining to think that this is what they call "Sport Suspension Delete" (on the Sport Activity Package) , It might be possible to have this option without Adaptive drive or Dynamic Driving Control. From BigAl's pictures he doesnt have the active roll stabilization -his stabilizerbar seems solid, the shocks also appear to be standard hence -he doesnt have the electronic damping = no Adaptive Drive. BigAl -can you please post a copy of your monroney (window) sticker if you have it just trying to clarify some stuff BMW is very vague about Thanks. |
Self leveling suspension is what I meant by rear air suspension. Only rear has the air suspension component in that option.
I don't know about 2011 model year, but in 2008 model year, 3.0 with a 3rd row of seat automatically received the self leveling suspension without having to choose the adaptive drive. And for the 4.8s, it was a standard feature regardless of suspension choice or the 3rd row seat. So it may well be the self leveling suspension after all. |
No auto-leveling, no active suspension.
I suspect it's the Fetzer valve, but I've been wrong before. |
