they are a textured (hard) plastic. they body shop had to take them off the car, sand them down, primer them, then sand them again, primer them again, and finally paint them so that they would have a smooth finish.

Thanks. Well, i did them all at different times because I'm poor as I am living off of student loans. I did the rear bumper and the wheel arches first for about $1,400. The front bumper was done for free since I got into a fender bender and needed a new one (my best friend owns a body shop). Lastly. I had the running boards and door bumper things painted for $700.

Since I got new wheels, I had to get the extended wheel arches painted for another $350.

The horns are just a joke.

What style of wheels are those? Or are they non BMW?

The definition of "poor college student" has apparently changed since I was in college/med school.

Very nice ride. It's amazing how much better the painted door trim looks vs. the original black.

.

I was thinking the same thing. I drove an 86 Toyota 4x4 pickup in med school. Loved that ride, especially since I could work on it myself. Drove that thing into the ground......Lived off loans as well...Still paying those (and my wife's) loans off 12 yrs after finishing school.....

Nonetheless, that is a nice X5 you have there and it looks great with the mods that you did. Well done

I wonder what that $1000+ month extra would do to those student loans? I am sure drop it from a 30 year to a 10 hahaha

Looks real, real good. The only thing that keeps popping into my mind is how those painted bumpers are going to look when some female with heels steps in or out of the car more than two or three times.

True, but depending on his interest rate (Mine is 2.35%) he may want to take to entire 30 years to pay it off. One never knows...
