I did not replace mine. If you did not wear the brakes down until sensor come on the dash then it's reusable. If the brake sensor light comes on then replace the sensor. It's cheap. $ 25-30 bucks I think.

Should i go ahead and reset my light when i change pads or wait till 3k miles come up? |
If the sensor has not yet contacted the rotor (ie it isn't worn yet) then you can reuse it.
I'd reset the service interval went the pads are changed, not 3k later. |
Hi everyone, I just finished doing my front brake and when i tried to reset my brake light, It would not reset. I didnt change my sensor and my warning light did come up before i change my brake.
You think my sensor needs to be change inorder to reset my light?? Thanks |

Replace the sensor. Older E53 models had a simple contact with only a warning light when it wore through. That isn't the same as the E70.
The E70 counts down the remaining pad mileage on iDrive. It uses a two-stage sensor (if it is the same as my 535, and I suspect it is). Once the mileage is counting down, and you replace pads, you need to replace the sensor. The manual advises that if you don't you won't be able to reset the brake pad counter. |
Is the brake service covered in the 4yrs/50k warranty?
