Those look really good. Can you tell me what the bulb type is for the corona rings? Do you need 2 or 4 bulbs? Where did you order them? Thanks.

The corona rings (aka angel eyes) are H8. You will need 2 bulbs, and they are sold as pairs. Just do a web search for them and you will find numerous vendors.

If you are also looking into replacing the fogs, those are H11 bulbs.

Thanks!

in daylight, are the outer rings not as bright as the inners like mine?

HOiYA 10-05-2010 10:03 PM

If the GP's are like my old Mtec's, the outer rings won't be as bright as the inner. Check out my Lux H8 and you'll see it brighter... mind you it was a typical foggy day in San Francisco

Got mine installed today. I was initially skeptical from posts earlier but after installing one side I compared it to factory. The color is great a near perfect match for the HIDs and they are at least as bright as the stockers which is all I wanted from my angel eyes. I'm usually the one who will spend much more on a modification for a 10% improvement but in this case I'm glad I saved the extra $180 over the Lux or other true HID system. The 8500k fogs are next. Anyone know how difficult the fogs are to install? Just remove plastic under bumper or more than that?

I have tried a lot of different things in my 335 and spend lot's of money and for the X5 I just bought the GP Thunder II's for like 8 bucks + 5 shipping and they are better than most other things I have tried including $100 LED's and equal to anything else with the exception of HID's, LUX or OSS, but I ain't spending that much money on stupid light bulbs. They basically look like stock only white - exactly what I wanted for short money.

BTW - who is masochist engineer with girly hands at BMW that designs their headlight enclosures - both my 335 and the X5 bulbs are only serviceable by a child pretty much - dealer mush hate bulb replacements more than anything!

The fogs are easier to install as you don't need tiny hands to get access!

GP Thunder II? Did they come out with something new in the last year or so?

Do you mean the 80w instead of the 35w here? H8 by HID Lights USA
