Side panel damaged from seat belt?

Side panels that are right next to the seat belt are getting very beat up...

Expensive part?

Any luck getting the dealer to replace under warranty?

i think the part is like $70ish. from now on just use your hand to slow the speed of the buckle retracting and it won't ding the panel no more. annoying at first but after awhile you will get used to it and it becomes 2nd nature.

do you guys have the black liner? I dont' seem to see anything damaged on mine.

EDIT>> I see what you guys are talking about... it's more of a hard plastic at the level of the buckle. Never noticed it before so I guess it's not a big deal.

My 2011 5.0 has a fabric upper portion that is dent resistant

My 07 looked like a woodpecker went nuts on the lower hard plastic piece. On my 2011 I try to make a conscious effort to not just unplug/toss and instead unplug and guide it across to the door. Still have a few pecks from when I forget but much much better than before... wait, I have only had the car for 1 month........

Sorry - could you share exactly what you are referring to in a pic?

mjamesp13 12-05-2010 02:05 PM

I believe you are referring to the lower plastic portion which goes from floor right up to about the belt carrier? If so, I replaced both of mine and each was ~$35 from 1stbmwparts.com - easy to swap out. Simply pull from bottom where there are two plastic trim clips securing the piece, then slide entire piece down towards floor and in towards interior of cabin. Help this helps..

my brother pointed out how munted my passenger side one was..i'm thinking of doing a DIY and covering it in a thick black fabric to prevent it from being dinged..
