It doesn't ride or handle like the X5. The brakes should be stronger for the size of the vehicle. I've had it 8 months and the only time I had it in for service was for the VSC recall. I also had my new wheels installed at the same time. My 2009 X5 35d was in the shop over ten times in one year. The Lexus drives more like a truck, not a SAV. I can take my Lexus out in the snow/ice without thinking I'm going to get stuck. I can also take it off road as well. I agree, it doesn't look drive or handle like my BMW, but it isn't in the repair shop all of the time either. BMW couldn't supply parts to fix my vehicle. My local dealer also tried to charge me for the yearly diesel exhaust fluid flush and fill and that was the last straw. All I can say, is everthing on my Lexus works and isn't in the shop all of the time. I also have a Lexus LS 460 as well. I've owned 3 other BMW's that didn't have any problems. This X5 was a lemon. The GX 460 and the X5 are two different kinds of vehicles. I don't have to worry about my battery going dead either. My X5 had to be on a battery tender every night. If my X5 wasn't a lemon, I would still own it. I was tired of dealing with all of the service issues. I also agree, the Lexus doesn't look as good as the X5, but it makes up for it with reliability and durability. The X5 had neither reliability or durability...

Did you have the option of lemoning the car? I have an '09 as well with just over 10k on it., the only time that its been in the shop is for oil changes.

I did ask BMWNA to buy it back. They asked if I was interested in another BMW. I need an SUV, so the X5 was the only vehicle I was interested in. I told them no, I just want my money back. They said no and offered me a check for $600.00 compensation. I took the check and traded it for a new Lexus GX 460 Premium. I do think it qualified for the lemon law, but that takes a lot of time. I was tired of taking it to the dealer and waisting a lot of time dealing with it. The dealer was giving me Fords to drive and I was paying to drive a BMW. I won't ever buy another BMW.

Regards.

If it were under warranty I'd tell you to just have them replace it but since you'll have to spend money you can live with it intermittently doing that. But in my experience, it will die eventually when it's acting up like that. Mine had also went a few days dark with many starts in between, then all of a sudden work a while.

Does anyone have the part number for the screen? Mine has been doing the same thing, and now that it's out of warranty, my dealer wants to replace the whole system for $3k. I'd rather just replace the malfunctioning screen.

Thanks,
Varshal
