I'll just wait until Ard responds......follow hIs advice...

This looks like the 2010 version of Rusty Jones :bustingup. I'm sure it's pretty pricey.

Ard's 3 boiling points are: 1) Pre-inspections of used cars 2) CPO vs. after-market warranty and 3) Wheel/Tire protection warranty :stickpoke

Paint sealant. Are they still asking $1500 for an application of it?

If you get any area resprayed from accident damage, or use tar remover, tree sap remover, bug remover, or any unapproved car wax, you need to have it reapplied.

And if you want the ten year warranty to be valid, you have to have another application after 5 years. Why not just warrant it for five years, that would be more honest.

The dealer put it on my 2011 X5 to the tune of $900 bucks.

Are you happy with it? And would you do it again?

I've only had my X5 for 5 days. I'll let you know. I haggled it down to a lot less than that. I am not a big believer in these types of items. On a black vehicle it will be interesting to see. I'll keep you guys posted.

Someone ring?

:) In germany, just woke up....

This stuff is a scam, someone needs to learn how to use the Search button here...

I am sure there are people who bought this and liked it- but they tend to be biased:

(and I mean "biased" in the scientific sense...)

1. They spent a lot of $$ on it and have a vested emotionional and intellectual interest (and belief) that it is and will be a benefit

2. They tend to be ignorant about cars and paint, hence they fell for the spiel to begin with- so their opinion isn't on part with those versed in paint/finishing/detailing.

3. Many will say "I got it, car looks great, I just run it through the car wash when I fill up with gas". You or I might be horrified by their paint, yet they are happy as clams. Heck, most people think BMWs on the showroom floor look great, paint wise....

4. If this really worked, wouldn't people be buying it someplace other than the Finance Managers office?????

A

PS Any new oil threads??

Honda Civic Cilajet - Car Forums - Edmunds

Some interesting info. I am skeptical of anything and everything sold to me at a Finance manager's office. The pre applied this to my vehicle upon delivery to the lot. All their cars have Lo Jack and this Cila stuff on them. It's a 2k markup off the bat. I managed to have both items reduced to almost nothing. I am a fan of waxing my vehicles regularly and I am no way believing anyone who tells me I don't need to do anything to it for 5 years.
