the wait is killing me!... Still can't believe we have no production date and it's been 4 weeks already...

Sounds like your dealer is waiting on an allocation.

I'm waiting on a different model, but I'm in the same boat. Put in the order 4 weeks ago, and it's still sitting in the Scheduling step with not production date.

I put in an order on 1/3. I've had a Production Number since ordering it. About 4 days ago my dealer told me they'd bumped me up to a closer production date. My BMW on the website shows "On Order", but I just called and found out that production has started. Cool!

Now, they would not tell me how long it takes to 'produce' the car, but my hope is that I'll have it here in early Feb.

Here's what I am getting:

X35d
Sapphire Black Exterior
Cinnamon Brown Interior
Dark Bamboo wood trim

Adaptive Drive
Comfort Access system
Comfort seats with lumbar support
Heated rear seats
High Beam Assistant
Sport Activity Package
Cold Weather Package
Premium Package
Premium Sound Package
Technology Package

I am psyched and eagerly awaiting it...

So far, three things have bummed me out:

- Apparently the X5 is not good on snow on the all-season tires... booh
- No White Angel Eyes - Totally lame move by BMWNA
- No 8 speed on the Diesel - Again, totally lame, cost-cutting move. Looks like we're getting the last of the 6'es since they were on overstock... I'd bet the '12 comes with 8 gears...we'll see.

Cheers!

JB

I am so bummed to hear this (but good for you) because I put my order in on the 23rd and while I did receive a production number it still shows "On Order" and I called, albiet not lately, the 800 number and no production date.
How did the dealer bump you up to a closer production date? I emailed them this week and they said it is a BMW thing that they really have no control over. This bums me because the dealer told me I ws in the computer system for a week 8 (of new year) production. :(

Alvam,

I think what they did is modify an order for a car they had previously ordered for stock to my specs. Either that, or someone cancelled their order and they gave me his/her slot.

When that happened, my order # changed, fwiw.

I'll venture a guess that who gets an order in is highly dependent on each particular dealer and where they are as regards their allocation.

Try pushing your dealer, maybe there's something else he can do...

Good luck!

JB

Ordered 12/31 (dealer probably actually submitted order on 1/3). PCD scheduled for 2/9. Not bad for a custom spec'd car IMHO.
