We ordered out 35d on the 23rd of December and while I have a production number, I have no build date. I went to the dealer this past weekend to see if I could get more detailed information on when it will be built so he looked it up and said that it looks like we are scheduled for the 8th week of the year for build.

My question is, in others experience, whether those estimates are accurate or if they usually have have longer lead times and the build actually happens sooner.

I really don't want to wait until March but clearly the wife and I are hoping for sooner. First time we have ordered a BMW. http://www.xoutpost.com/images/smilies/dunno.gif

That does seem odd as they are pushing custom ordering because they can do more just in time type production to keep costs better managed. They have been saying it takes around 4 weeks to 6 weeks for me from order to delivery. 8 weeks into this year just seems for build looks like a long time. Hope it was just the dealer having wrong info.

The custom ordering is being marketed that it can be turned around quickly...so 8 to 10 weeks is too long for that type of service.

The dealer did quote me the 4-6 week timeline but I wanted to check with him to gauge if he was correct and that's where the week 8 build came out when he looked it up.

Let's hope he is wrong and it comes sooner. Thanks

we ordered our 35D on Dec 9th... have a production number but still no production date..... dealer told us it would be in our hands around first of the year...

We'll see how much longer this takes!!

Is it that difficult to find what you want on a dealer's lot ? I called my sales guy with what I wanted, and he tracked it down for me in a couple of days. Just curious.

It was in Phoenix for year end deals on the Diesel.....out of 3 dealers they had like 6 x5d's....got one pretty close to what we wanted, just no HUD and no heated seats (apparently not a big seller in phoenix)

..wanted Alpine white with Tobacco interior... guess that color combo isn't too common.

Ordered 12/22. Just off the truck at dealer tonight. I'll pick-up tomorrow :D
