I do drive more highway than city, my average speed on the computer shows 42.1 avg. I would assume with the engine being the same, I should anticipate the same mpg.

Similar mpg. Not the same. The E70 is heavier than the E53.

Edit to add: I just traded in my 05 3.0 for an 07 4.8 last weekend. Night and day difference. The 3.0 doesn't even compare to the 4.8. However, my 3.0 got 20 mpg combined with a lot of mixed highway and city driving. The 4.8 is getting about 12-13mpg local city driving but I did get 20 mpg on the highway while driving it home last weekend from the dealer.

How on earth did you get 20 mpg on the highway? Do you drive at 55? My freeway driving gets me me about 14.8 mpg...

Do you like my "about" being a fraction? :) My non-freeway driving gets me a lower 14.x mpg number...

Duno. The OBC and the MPG gauge were showing 20 on cruise at 73? mph. Granted this wasn't around every curve or up every hill. But on a flat section of highway, I'd get about 18-20. I purposefully was watching it to see how she did on the highway.

In the E53 forum, no one could believe I got 23 round trip from WI through IN and OH and back to WI. I was very pleased and am very happy with my E53. If I wasn't at 95K miles, and have someone who wants to buy it, I would not change.

I found an 08 at the BMWNA factory auction with literally every option all black (which I am not a fan of) with 20K miles for $31K and warranty to 100K.

Unless I find a different color that I would prefer, white with tobacco and all options, I will take that one.
