Do these licence plate lights improve the back up camera at night (2008 X5). I notice my Audi Q5 has a light right by the back up camera and at night the camera is great

Can't tell you if it's improved from the 2010 version but it is 100% better than my '08 which was worthless at night. This LED version works fine in both daylight and at night.

Sorry Jon SS. Can't answer that. I solved the problem by buying a 2011.

Still not introducing those LED license plate lights on the LCI is crap. The problem with the aftermarket ones are they're WAY too bright. The stock ones on my '08 M3 are LEDs and they have a nice tone to it, not overly blasting light out. Sounds like they finally came out with them for the X5, so it should be something we can buy from the parts department and retrofit.

What am I missing... Why again exactly are we trying to shine a SPOTLIGHT on our plate?

I kinda like mine really dim... :D
