Audi S5 Cabriolet would be a screamer - manual transmission, please!

Hope to keep the current X5 4.8is for several more years as it has been great so far. If I was to pull the trigger on an additional vehicle, the list in no priority order is Bentley Continental GT, Gallardo, F 360 or 430. Now all I have to do is convince my better half!

If I had to replace the X5 today, I'd probably get a Ford Explorer.

I like the X5, in particular the diesel, but I use it mostly for camping and touring the West in the Summers. With the "excessive discharge" and other problems, compounded by the lack of BMW dealers in some areas, it's just not a good vehicle for the wide open spaces.

If my driving pattern was such that I'd be near a major metropolitan area and a BMW dealer most of the time, I'd get another X5 diesel. But BMW's are just not reliable enough for the places I drive with their sparse dealer network. There were times last Summer when I was several hundred miles from the nearest BMW dealer, e.g., no dealer at all in Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, and only one on the east end of South Dakota.

I will probably get rid of my 2005 X5 in a few months, and replace it with a 3 series (likely a 335).

Nice cars guys. I don't feel so "guilty" that I'd go beyond BMW now. :-)

I'm replacing my X5 with a Q7. The E70 is just sooooo unreliable, it seems something breaks on it every month. I was all fired up to order a LCI, but after a spate of reliability issues in the last three months, I'm off over to Audi. Plus in the UK a higher spec Q7 is about 10k (GBP) cheaper than an X5 at the moment.

Yeah I think the new Explorer looks GREAT. I've seen two in person, and it is awesome. Fit and finish look so good!

NO BMW dealer in MO, WY, ND?? There are about FIVE dealerships in a 12-15 mile radius where I live!!! :wow:

"My" car is the 535i, but it doesn't get driven much. "My Wife's" car is the X3, and I drive it as much as she does. The 535i warranty is up in November, not sure whether to sell it now (with remaining warranty) or wait until then. May trade it so that the BMW dealer can CPO it (that being the only way to get an extended warranty for the next owner). Thinking about a Mini Clubman to replace it.

Still thinking about a loaded 335d. But if there was a 535d I would be shopping dealers today. Hear my voice when say Bye Bye 2005 X5
