Fuel level "full" but still has one tick left to the "F"

I fill up my X5 completely with each gas fill-up. This means I put in between 19 to 19.5 gallons each time. I fill it until the gas pump "clicks". If I don't top off 3 TIMES with 3 clicks (and, therefore, increasing the risk of spillage which happens quite often), the gas gauge needle reads 1 tick under the "F" for full.

So it's really annoying how this is. So if I just let the gas pump click once, then for sure the gas gauge reads one or two ticks under the F.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'd love to take it to the dealer to have them "fix" it. But I am weary that they will break something else....

Others will chime in no doubt, but..

Mine is not EXACTLY on the "1," but it's not one tick away, either.

Most cars I've owned - this is my first BMW - had the opposite effect, though, that is to say they went down from "F" slowly and then much faster as it approached "E."

At least for this one, it seems to be steady and consistent (given driving habits, of course). But it's always just a hair under the "1" when full.

Same here. Just a hair below full when filled up.

Hmmm, mine is always on Full upon filling up. I have never seen it a hair/tick below.

Both my X5's (M & 3.0 Sport) do the same thing from time to time.

My X5 has been doing that for over 9 month.. finally got fed up with it.

My was 7/8th full.. and at times.. its 3/4 on the fuel guage... even when fill it up completely.

The dealer took 2 days to fix it. They made an case with BMWNA to ask for help.

Replace both Fuel sensor was the final solution.

They found out that.. 2 fuel sensor had 2 different voltage reading.
and when they hook it up computer, 2 different sensors were read diffrently on the amount of gas left.

Once those 2 sensor is replace, everything is back to normal.
