Please Help! Dealer took my production # and gave it to someone else!!!

Ok so my car went into the production 04/8/11, friday at 12:45pm. On Monday 04/11 I called my CA to let her know that my car is in production and will be finish on 04/18. She told me "no!" , "your car never entered the production and that will enter in three weeks." I almost argued with her. Yesterday i called 800# again and a lady over the phone told me that the car is in the assembly. Today I called and my car was ready for trucking to the dealer. I called my CA and told her that the car was finished. She stated again "no, your car never entered the production" I started to argue with her over the phone and hung up on her. She called me back and tried to tell me some BS that she gave me somebody else's production number, someones who ordered the car 3 weeks before me. I told her that I don't believe her because I ordered my car on 03/15/11 and two days later she gave me this production #. With that number I registered and when I called a live person at (800#) on 20th they told me that my car was on order and that the order was accepted on 17th for production. I told her that this was the date when she gave me the order number and exactly on the same day, which was the 17th; my deposit money for the car was withdrawn from my bank account. I told her that what a coincidence that out of 600 thousand production numbers you will mistakenly gave me the number that approval for this number's production was accepted exactly on the same date when my money was withdrawn from my account? So you're telling me, that somebody ordered the car 3 weeks before I did and you sent his paper work for build 3 weeks later? I don't believe it, hung up on her again. Now they're telling me that their MANAGER took my production number and changed the car to his specifications to be use as his DEMO CAR!!!!!!!!! I'm like WHAT!!!!!????? you just said and started argument again. They have to call me back
What would you do???

Thanx for reading.

First of all "Relax"......."Breath"......now scream :pullhair:. OK, now to business.....I agree that it sounds like :bsflag: but that's what most dealers will give you and a lot of it. Here are some options for you, you can take your money and head to the next dealer or you can speak with the manager that might or might not call you back. Here's the upside....you are now in the drivers seat (no pun intended). Try to get some running boards or some other goodie for the inconvience. All they'll tell you is we can get you another spot. I hope you get this resolved because this is really F**ked up.............Phil

eh, they do not have to give you the car. It isn't "yours" until you pay for it AND drive it off their property...up until then both you and the dealer can walk away.

Is it despicable? Sure.

Tell the sales rep she lied to you trying to cover up what the manager did. You will no longer deal with her- she is not to speak to you or handle any aspect of the transaction. (They all lie, but I'd do this to establish power.)

Then see what else you can get.

How good is the deal? $500 over cost? then you cannot do much. $2000 over? yes, they need to make good.

It's a bad business. I don't think that BMW headquarters will be happy to find out that the one of their managers here in NY is being selfish where he doesn't value his customer first, but him self.

What dealer is this? Life Quality on Remsen? Or did they move to Bay Ridge?

Are you saying they cashed your deposit? Well, they are not supposed to do that... take a deep breath, get your money back & go somewhere else!

I'm pretty sure its Life Quality BMW in Bay Ridge. They are the absolute worst dealer in the area. Take your business elsewhere.

You need to understand that BMWNA is independent of the dealership, their managers and their employees.

Simply put, BMWNA is as powerless as you are in this situation....

Yes I have. In the past 10 years I have purchased two M3's from them and my brother used to buy from them also. Their "negotiated" prices are high and their trade in quotes are always low. They also do a horrible job of taking care of you "after" the sale. Their service department was equally horrible. They are notorious for "not having the part in stock". My M3 once spent 2 weeks in the service department for a Mass Air Flow sensor problem. One week for the diagnosis, 3 days for the part to come in and two days to fix it, WTF! This is after I waited 6 weeks for the service appointment with a loaner car! I still use them occasionally for last minute parts but I couldn't tell you the last time I walked in there and walked out with a part. The most basic thing has to be ordered. In my opinion, they might as well close down the parts department.

I switched over to Open Road BMW in Edison NJ and couldn't be happier. They are willing to deal, give fair trade in prices and the service department is excellent. I recently had to have the trans replaced in my 2008 4.8 and it was done by 3pm on the 3rd day. I just ordered a 2012 X5M and they were very fair in the negotiations. My brother and father both switched over also and have had similar good experiences.

Unfortunately most people deal with Life Quality because they are the only option in Brooklyn but I think its worth the 30 minute trip outside of NY for good service. I'm sure there are people who have had good experiences with them, but I NEVER have.
