Absolutely I do. I simply told them that if they wanted to use my car as a billboard then advertising would be £1,000 a month.

Funnily enough I have no dealer tags anywhere on the car, or the plates. Can't imagine what I said that stopped them...:D

I am a bit surprised, because legally all new cars must at least have the supplying Dealer's name and postcode on the plates. Mine are blank.

If the dealer treats me well, I don't mind a license plate frame. I don't want any stickers on the car.

Many dealers used to use large chrome badges, and some of them drilled the trunk lid to mount them. Those, I minded. I have a license plate frame with my dealer's name on it, and a small discrete label (black script on a space grey vehicle). Doesn't bother me, I never notice it. But I see no reason why you can't just instruct them not to apply anything if in fact it does bother you.

Badges have never been installed on any vehicle I have ever bought.
One dealer did remove my personal license plate frames and installed
their own. I guess they thought I wouldn't notice but I did and they
had to replace them. No one has ever done that since then.

I have only seen the stickers on out of state cars. I live in California and now the only stickers I see regularly are Carmax stickers.

Is it more common in the Midwest and East?

I never see that on BMW/Porsche/MB dealers here, in lower NY. I do, however, see that they all put license plate frames on. I see Chevy's and GM's have dealer vinyls applied though. Not so much the nicer/bigger/$'er vehicles but the smaller compacts.

It is very common in the Midwest and some are downright obnoxious. I simply stated the day my car arrived that no dealer stickers etc. were to be placed on the car. On pickup, they followed my directions quite nicely, in fact to my surprise, they had also put all weather floor mats in at no charge. Nice little surprise.

There're on most cars here in Austin, but you almost never see them on BMWs here; just the dealer plate frames.

We recently saw a relatively new 3series with a dealer badge; both my friend and I were flabbergasted. At first we thought that it must be from some other dealer slapping it on a used car, but on closer inspection, it was indeed a BMW dealer badge (from Dallas or someplace I think).

I also explicitly stated not to put any stickers on the car, they are a b!tch to get off. The dealer compromised that he will give his plate frames instead, I said of course and took them down the same night, he's not paying me to advertise his business.

Rallye BMW / Mercedes is known for doing that around here. I guess it's a "badge" that these people paid a little more... because when I dealt with them, they were not willing to go lower, plus they wanted $3600 for the aero kit (that's not a typo).

Interestingly, they were outdone by Hassel BMW on the service-excellence list. They just put a license plate frame on mine. I made sure they didn't do anything else - don't think they have an actual badge anyway.
