@ cube4da99, if that is 35% then it looks to dark, compared to the rear widows.

I agree but I think you mis-read the post as that's not my car!

William.

it is exactly 35 percent, just double checked with the dealer and the 35 on my front matches perfectly. i also have 35 on my windshield so my car is now 35 percent all around, looks amazing not too dark, not too light.

I like the look of tinted windsheilds, but i cant see anything as it is at night. My buddy has 50% on his and that seems dark for me. But to each his own.

stockguru 08-29-2011 05:32 PM

wow. 50% on the windshield is scary. I hope your friend either drives only in the day or is a vampire.

50% is lighter than 35%, the number goes down for darker tint since it references the percentage of light allowed to pass. 20% is darker than 35%, 35% is darker than 50%, etc...

Thanks. I'm well aware of the % definitions.:stickpoke

Tinting the windshield is illegal in almost every state for a good reason. I think there are less than 5 states that allow tinting the windshield (other than the 5/6 inches on the top) and the ones that allow tinting are rural states which result in cows getting hit instead of people.:nanana:

50% is basically driving at night while wearing sunglasses. God help those people walking across the street wearing dark colored shirts.

Tinting the front windshield is the best way to definitely get pulled over in NY. GF just got pulled over for front tints (35% all around) a few weeks back. Just remember that 35% is fine during the day and gives a silhoutte at night, which should keep you out of trouble, but when it is cloudy out it will look a lot darker.

That is the main reason I think my GF got pulled over as it was in the early evening and raining outside. The funny part of it all was that the cop pulled out a light meter and said it was 30% in the car and that he should have given 3 more tickets for the rear windows as it was too dark in the car and it was illegal to have rear tints also, but was being a nice guy. Too bad I wasn't there to have corrected his statement. Sadly, the state needs money and those working for it are uninformed. Tint with caution...

Exactly.

@Stockguru, I could tell you knew about the tint %, but the reply was was kinda confusing since the thread jumped from 35% to 50%. I was hoping to clarify for others that might not have such a clear understanding. No worries.
