The part about the cop reading 30% might be right, most cars have a small amount of tint in the glass already, so applying 35% tint may read a little lower on a meter if tested. 35% would be more like 30%

Just came from the tint shop. Stock rear factory tinted windows are 32-33%, shop used a digital meter. The shop tinted the front driver and passanger windows with 35% charcoal tint. Virtually impossible to tell the difference from the rears. I've seen people put 35% on before, but they go with a tint that has a black, blue, or brown base tint to it which does not match the factory windows. If anyone is in Maryland would like to use the same shop that I did PM me. I've used this shop for 6 or 7 of my vehocles in the past and they have always done a great job.
