X5 with roof mounted bike racks

These are the Inno INA 388. I bought a roof mounted rack because I want to take the bikes when we tow the boat, so I couldn't use a hitch mounted rack. I'm not a fan of the OEM BMW rack, its limited to two bikes, and its expensive.

Pardon the pic, its a crappy iPhone picture

Thanks for posting. I plan on buying a rack as well when my son gets a bit older. It's nice to have real owners post (makes shopping a bit easier). The picture looks fine by by the way.

I have a Thule roof rack, which works well. I have it set up for two bikes right now, but it can accomodate more.

Very cool. Great looking truck by the way, I love the wheels.

I always have my roof rack on. I have 3 bike trays on the oem rack. They are fork mount trays for road bikes. Works great!!!

Is it riding season down your way now? I know you skip the hot summers. Still got the Cervelo R3 with DI2? We just passed the 3300 km mark for this past summer. A couple hundred more to go this year, as we get nicer days.

Yes!!!! Our season is just starting and it is beautiful!!!!!! I am doing base training right now for the race season. I do still have the R3 sl. However, I am looking at getting an s-works sl4 soon. That will be our team bike this season!!!! It will be a much more race oriented frame compared to the cervelo. This is exactly what I want. I love the cervelo but it is more of a comfort/race bike. The sensations are a little more muted whereas the tarmac is an outright race machine and gives 100% feedback. Kinda like an m car :) or any bmw with sport package vs non sport. I did a good amount of riding through out the summer. It basically gets way to hot to ride in Phoenix so I went up north to flagstaff for most the weekends and a few trips to San Diego. I guess the weather is changing to cold for you...

Heres a photo from a summer trip and the second is the new s-works i might get. I am still undecided if I am gonna go for the pink bike. Its bold but i like it :)

Very nice bikes!

I love my Cervelo R3sl it just turned 5,000 miles.

With regard to cross bars and bike racks I am about to buy them for my 535XIT:

1)My current choise Whipsbars cross bars because they fit flush with the roof rails and should offer the least noise. They also look better(not my car).

2)Since I will have Yakima Whipsbars I would think that I should also get Yakima bike rack. My first choise is Highroller but others are suggesting Frontloader?

Haven't used those two. Mine are Thule, but the equivalent in Yakima is a Viper (fork mount), with a simple fold-down wheel holder. I would rather have a fork mount than a wheel mount, as I think it is more solid (and easy to lock to the rack).
