On the pre-lci, the backup camera is a solid question. Decent when it's sunny out, worthless at night, when it's dirty and half the time it doesn't come on fast enough. But yeah, it's a nice feature. Soon it will be standard on all vehicles courtesy of the Federalis. I think 2014.

1. Understand that ANY used car is sold by USED CAR SALESMEN. BMW dealership, 'dealer', fancy high end used car store, or trailer on a lot..>ALL THE SAME. If anyone thinks the building matters, they are kidding themselves. (It can reduce the chance of getting screwed, but not the protection from getting screwed)

2. Forget about their "certified" crap. Insulting. Without any value. You MUST get your own inspection- AND NOT at a shop they recommend.

3. I assume their 'warranty' is crap. If they are the guarantors it is crap.

4. Can YOU buy a BMW warranty for that car? I would. I would not consider 3rd party warranties for a BMW.

5. Did I mention I don't trust used car dealers?

I would actually prefer not to have one. I don't find them useful, and they are just another thing to break. I do find PDC useful.

I'd argue that in general BMW dealers get 'first dibs' on used cars - lease returns, trade-ins, - and keep top cars while sending less desireable ones to auctions. As you know, auctions grade vehicles by condition, so typically small dealerships end up scooping from bottom lanes (high mileage, CELs, body damage, etc.).
Again, this is what happens in general, and there are exceptions, like all those stories about CPOs with body damage.
