You are right though. Efficiency is cool; no matter the price of admission. :-)

All I do is stop and go driving around town and I'm only 14mpg in a 3.0si. I would LOVE 22mpg. Have been thinking about getting something more efficient since I don't get to use its "BMW capabilities" anymore anyway. But the word minivan makes me cringe. Talk about going from riding a train to a boat.

Oh no, I am probably doing 15 in stop and go, the 22 is a mix of the 29 hway from my trip on sunday plus the 2 days of stop and go since then. I wish I did 22 city too

I am in Canada, drove in D mode at around 70 mph, air conditioner turned on, minimal traffic, 25.2 mpg. I will see how it turns out on the way back. I guess 29 was inaccurate:)

I knew I was not going to get away with not reporting that. Just a bit of background though, I filled my tank up in NJ, travelled to NYC (I live 15 miles from the city) and then out through the GWB. There is heavy traffic at the GWB these days. I only got minimal traffic once I got to I 87. I then filled up the tank again at the boarder and it was a tick or two above the quarter mark. Roughly that's 20 mpg, but about a quarter of that tank had been spent in city traffic. On the way back I will fill up after crossing the boarder and fill up again in NJ and provide feedback. I won't use up a full tank from the boarder to NJ

To clarify, the 25.2 was measured once I got on I 87

14 mpg is my norm with my 4.8i too.

I do get 15 mpg on the freeway. Maybe if I kept below 90 mph I would see better mpg there...

I was following friend @ 50-55 mph from New Haven CT to NJ (she had a flat tire and was driving on a donut), and found out that my diesel can get 45 mpg at that speed ! :) (fully loaded with 4 people and trunk to the roof)

Observed (500/21.3): 23.4mpg

Out of interest, does Canadian Octane 91 gas have 10% Ethanol? Filling up a tank in Quebec City costs $1.44*80. Costs around $70 in NJ

Canadian federal law requires 5% ethanol calculated on a pool of gasoline from a supplier, not on a specific grade or load. So, some may have more and some less, as long as it averages out to at least 5%. None should have more than 10%, but that assumes it was blended correctly.

Provincial laws may place additional requirements on a retailer. Not sure what the rules are in Quebec.
