Really? I wouldn't think it would trigger so soon. 1700kms is still a ways away but I can see it being brittle etc. I will look more into it. Thanks!!

The second trigger is to tell you that the pads are worn out. The first trigger is to calibrate the miles-to-replacement estimate. There wouldn't be much point in waiting until end-of-life to give an accurate estimate, IMO.
