I have had them on my X3 and my mother's 325i (electrochromic) for many years now. In the latter vehicle, I was lucky enough to find an auction off eBay.de and thanks to my German skills, went thru and it shipped altogether for about €105 or so, can't remember exactly.

I actually have trouble driving with the flat mirrors found on 99,9% of US cars now because I've gotten very used to and appreciate the extra visibility. Eliminates the blind spot when adjusted accordingly.

Mirrors are on ebay for about $200 US.

So the dealer was ABSURDLY expensive. ECS had a better price but still just no way. I looked around on eBay and found what I thought I was looking for. Contacted the seller (dubstopimports) who responded quick and bought them right away. Great price. It took 3 days for me to receive them. They are very nice quality and the slight blue no-glare tint looks really nice and sleek. The install was very straightforward. $104.90 shipped.

Put the mirror up and to the inside and slowly pull with restrained strength. Once all 4 insert pop out just unplug the two contacts. Remove the inner fitting on the OEM mirror backs. Just take a small flat screwdriver and gently pull until you get each tab. Take the fitting and secure it on the new glass back. Then set you mirror assembly to point up and to the inside again. Replug the contacts. Line up the two tabs sticking out to the socket inserts in the back and push with an open palm. All 4 inserts pop in and you are good to go.

Now I'm gonna drive with them for a few days and give you guys some feedback. So far so good.

Thanks for the info and review. As I said before, I have these on my M3 and love them. It'll take a few days to get used to them (remember that everything is closer than it appear to be!) but once you get used to them, you'll want them on all your cars.

The cost depends on whether it's electrochromic or not. Just the plain heated ones aren't too bad, but having the auto-dimming function basically triples the price. And since the connectors for the two types of different, installing the non-electrochromic one onto a mirror that had the feature means that although the functionality and adjustments work fine, you lose both the heat and electrochromic functions. So ultimately it depends on what options your vehicle has.

I ordered some OEM take-offs from a seller in the EU over a year ago and have zero complaints! I had them on my 330td while I was stationed overseas and grew accustomed to having them. After getting the X5 I hated driving it with the US spec mirrors. The NA market X5 should come with them stock! so much safer to drive with them! Well worth the money I spent to get them, about $250 delivered.
When my wife got here Mini Countryman I installed a set on it as well. That car has some CRAZy blind spots!!

Its funny you mentioned the Countryman, I complain everytime I drive my wife's. The mirors are so small compared to the elephant ears on the X5. I was just looking at getting the aspherical mirrors for the Countryman, they are way cheaper than the ones for the X5 too.

I got mine from an ebay seller in the UK. They're not OEM but they keep her from getting into trouble. That car has some terrible blind spots!! Still waiting to see if the heated option works well enough this winter. If you get a set you'll end up destroying the stockers removing them because they do not have a plastic frame like the one on the X5.

looks neat but I don't fully trust mirrors much cause I end up peeking over my shoulder quickly anyway... that and the convex center mirror to keep a general idea of what cars are around me. Downside is I lose the anti-glare feature (covers the sensor) and the compass.

Just wanted to give you guys a review. So I've had a couple weeks with the mirrors and I gotta say I really like them. Of course it was awkward for the first week not only because I could see more although a bit warped but also because the objects look even closer in the mirror. It was tricky the first time I paralleled into a spot. They definitely should have come like this from the factory. I love the blue hue in the glass, makes it look a bit more modern (at least to me). For the price, I would definitely recommend them. Like everything else with safety, this is just another aid so you can't completely rely on them so I will swivel my head back if I don't feel safe. However I have noticed the few times I swiveled my head it was what I saw in the mirror... so I guess you can say they work. This is not a solution to eliminate instinct and precautions but it helps.
