Hey guys,

Those spy shots are great.! I didn't ready any comments on a couple of details I saw.... First, there is a decisive Start/Stop button on that dash! I'm also glad to see that the panorama roof is carrying to the next generation. I use mine every day.

The one thing I couldn't tell is if we're getting a stick on the floor or a stub on the column (ala 7 series and now Mercedes ML). I know it's only my personal opinion, but I HATE those stubs! I looked at the photos posted on this thread and there seems to be what looks like a stub on the left side of the Nav close up. Nonetheless, I went to the photographer's website and he has another photo (IMG 1682) that seems to show a traditional stick.

As for the nav, judging by that photo it's gonna be impossible to read the screen on a sunny day. Look at the image, there is glare all over it... :tsk:

Finally, we need to consider that most manufacturers are consistent in the way they do things. So, go look at the 3 series spy shots and compare them to the final car. Judging by the spy photos, the car ended up looking nothing like what we saw in the test mules. So, I would venture to say that the cladding on the photos we saw is good camouflage. IMO, they give no indication of what the new X5 is really going to look like. Additionally, BMW is revolutionary and not evolutionary in it's designs. I can assure you the next gen X5 will look nothing like the current one (which is what the spy shots lead to believe).

I think we're all in for a BIG surprise.... I LIKE SURPRISES! :)

Great they spoiled the interior. That ugly dash screen doesn't belong there - it looks like an after-thought. They should've made a second hump like they did on the 5 and 7.

There is a second hump. It doesn't look very pronounced from the awkward angle the picture was taken from.

@ josejb70

BMW is going to have to stick with the traditional center console mounted gear shift leaver to cater to the purists who want a manual. With a steering wheel mounted gear changer, there will be no way to implement a clutchless manual (well there will, but BMW isn't going to forgo the extra costs to make two center consoles).
