Extend Full Maintenance or Not
I have a 3.0 2009 X5 with 43,000 miles and an opportunity to extend the full BMW maintenance to 100K miles or 2/2015 for $2295. My initial thoughts are to extend as it has work for me in the past. Any thoughts are welcomed.

That's a good price. Keep in mind that you'll need a brake job around 70k miles or so. That alone will cost you more than $2295 through your dealer.
I purchased the full maintenance on mine for $2699. I was expecting it to be more and wasn't going to get it. When they told me that price, I gladly paid cash for it. My thought was, my X5 has 37k miles on it. If I keep it for another 63K miles, I'll easily spend more than $3000 on maintenance. |

I should have never paid for the extended maintennance, live and learn. I'll never do it again. Tire Rack has Akebono pads for about $75 / axle plus a wear sensor is about $40 per axle. Stock rotors $160 front & $90 rear. A decent indie shop would do these for $300 labor per axle I would guess. So $1500 for a brake job. That leaves a bunch of money for four oil changes and a cabin air filter. Ditch the "free" maintennance and get an extended warranty. You will likely need it. |
Depends on how many miles you drive per year. You may be able to squeeze two brake jobs out if you are driving 15k miles a year.
Plus wipers, fluids, and oil changes, it can add up. |

Thanks to all who have replied, I will most likely purchase the plan as I was figuring two brake services and oil changes at a minimum as I am driving about 22K miles a year.
Thanks again for the input |
I just picked up extended maint. And Premium warranty both are 6 years or 100k miles.
Total for both was $4,950.00. My car was just at 48k miles when I got it. There is no way I would have kept this car without both. |
