Fog light bulb replacement on E70 DIESEL

I am trying to chgange the bulbs in my E70 so that they are not so yellow compared to the HIDs. Found the DIY for the fogs but on the passenger side there is some kind of box behind the pullout grille.

Anyone got a solution for this, how do I get in there to get the bulb out? Or is it through the fender liner?

Strange not sure on the Diesels. My 4.8 was too easy. Pull front mesh plates out reach up and turn. On the Driver's side there is the cooler in front but nothing major. Just worked it out. On the passenger side there was nothing getting in my way.

I searched some more last night and this has come up a few times and seems to be a diesel specific problem. Some actually loosen that bumper cover to get to the passenger side fog bulb. Not a very elegant solution but thus far the only rhing I hve seen.

I wonder if the painted surround that holds the grille in place could be modified so that it can be removed as well, That might give just enough space to get in and pop the fog bulb out?

I'm curious which bulb you're using to get close to the HID and how it turns out when you solve the fitment issue.

H11 Cree 20w projector led bulbs. Is what I used.

loosen the screws that hold the bumper in place along the bottom and hope your hand fits. It's the only way I found to do it. I hope you have smaller hands than me cause it was a pita. I don't know who's idea it was to not be able to repair simple things like bulbs.

Edit...I should say remove the screws along the bottom of the bumper and around the wheel well. Loosening them won't help you much.

That 'box' is the Active DEF tank and associated plumbing. It takes up most of the space between fender/bumper and the fender liner on the passenger's side. Be careful. DEF is pretty messy.

Thanks for the pointers. I guess this is going to be a bit harder than I thought. The placement of the DEF tank was probably not part of the original design brief and it turned ugly...

How well did these Cree bulbs match the HID headlights? I'm assuming it's simply a bulb swap. Have a link to these?
