Maybe the X5 is just not good for me, my second loaner was a 2012 X5 3.5D with 13k miles on it. The check engine light was on when they gave it to me and I had to swap it out today for a Mercedes C300 loaner since the light never extinguished. Unreal

How do you know you can legally unwind the contract? will you name the dealer? I am in the area too.

It's actually a very reputable dealer in Barrington Illinois (Motorwerks). One of the main reasons I bought the car was because of the great reputation they have.
As for my Jeep. I have not signed over the title to them yet and I was told by the General Manager that "Everything is on hold" regarding it's disposition.

Is it common for a DCM or DME module to fail in these cars ?

Let this one go. Do better homework on the next one with regard to features. Comments below!

* Lack of bluetooth streaming from my iPhone 5 *
Get a 2011 - the LCI models support this. Someone chime in if I'm mistaken. My 2013 does Bluetooth audio really well.

* iPhone 5 won't play when connected via USB (haven't tried a y cable yet)*
Make sure you update the software - in my 2013, the software was actually not current on delivery a few weeks ago. BMW updates their support for mobile devices and you can download an update and install with a USB fob. Believe this might be 2011+

* Cannot CLOSE the tailgate from the console button or remote controls*
This can be coded to work that way. Their are people on this forum that can do remote coding. If you have a laptop that can be within wireless range in your car, for a reasonable fee, they will send you the cable and recode your car by acessing your laptop remotely - so that the button closes the gate. Many other great coding options available.

* Lack of LED halos on headlamps*
That was probably easy to see before you bought!

* No sunshade *
See prior

* The most annoying seat-belt warning system on the planet *
Can be coded off. Mine is.

Walk away from this. Use it as a learning experience and get the X5 you really want! It's out there.

OK, how many votes for "BACK OUT"? All but one.

I am uncomfortable waiting for you to leave this lemon alone.

Plus, I don't think you like this particular X5.

How many reasons do you need?

Bounce on that.

Ibid...

If you keep the 'fixed' X, you will always wonder when it will go kaboom again.

Get your Jeep back, enjoy it and give your next car selection, regardless of brand/type, some serious pre-purchase investigation.

That local dlr, regardless of 'reputation', is in biz to maximize their car flipping profits, and most every brand dlr abuses the current, almost meaningless term of 'CPO', etc.

he has compromised his reputation, and i would not buy from him... is there a lemon law in IL?:angryfire

That's a bingo!

I'm a BMW guy,X5 and Z4 owner, but i think that a 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 is a better overall vehicule than a 2011 X5, unless it is a M.
