Then it's up to you. I would get a '13 if you love the chassis and want to get the end of the run with the most "reliable" technology, but if you're OK with the risk and like your car then by all means keep the '07, and put the car payment into something fun.

My only other issue in my old E90 AND E53 has also been cracked header bolts, which most dealerships are too dumb to diagnose, but it seems like leaking oil.

Also keep in mind that the ZF 8 speed auto is replace only, no repair - almost all automatics will need a rebuild at 135-150k... I am not positive about the 6.

Ryan, less than 100k on our '01, but it just keeps rolling, though anything could happen between 'now' and 'then'.

My opin: agree with above people that if you like/enjoy your '07, that even a major repair or a few less than major repairs in the next year or two is a blink compared to trading it and taking on another payment hunk, imo. The only real potential 'big hit' on a car of your vintage is a new auto trans, and that incident time can never be predicted.

Some people don't mind/are used to big car payments; I am not one of those people.

If you are Jonesing for a new '13, run the arithmetic and it's your choice. For me, a grand here or there on repairs, if needed, is way less of a hit on a bum's fixed income, than shelling out $40-$50 on a new $65-$70G car.

My 4.8 has metal end tanks.

I had an '07 and ran it to 100K+ in 3 years. Near 100K, the AC pump went at a cost of $2K. Other than that, there were no mechanical issues (other than some annoying issues, but nothing major or large costs - except for the 20" RFT's.)

I'm on my '13 now, crested 11K in 3 months. So far so good.

My '07 has 80k miles on it and everyone assures me that parts are just basically going to start failing and/or falling off the damn thing and it's going to cost me thousands and thousands of dollars. Of course, the solution I'm always given to this problem that I haven't experienced is to run out and buy a new $75k car.

If I was going to get a new one, I'd at least wait until '14 when the replacement arrives. It would bother me to trade my '07 for a '13 that's barely any different.

I have my 09 and love it, no worries. Regular brakes and maintenance type stuff, no mechanical or electrical.

I sold my E53 to a brother then a nephew, he has 138 and loves it.

And I would wait for the '15. The '14 will be an electronic mess knowing BMW in the first year.

<shrug> I guess I'm just lucky. My '07 doesn't seem to have all these problems that I'm told it should be having. Occasionally I'll see an error message or something, but a restart always fixes it. I've stayed pretty current on the software.

It isn't like owning a Civic, but then again, that's why I bought it.

133K miles on my 04 3.0.

Got the PS pump replaced around 100K, new radiator, new belt(and a few other common stuff) but nothing major. Planning on selling it and get a E70 soon.
