No real difference...

I really couldn't tell a difference, to be honest.

I tried them side by side in direct sun light and in my garage...
I think in some color settings/combinations (I tried them all several times) the v4 may be a bit brighter as there are combinations of 8 LEDs, instead of only 4 in the v3.

The v4s aren't bad by any means, expect for my opinion of the inconsisent light pattern (blue/white), and are very bright.
A camera blends the light colors into one nice even color, but your eye will not do that... :-(

Sorry to say, I didn't find a compelling reason to move from my v3s.

Thanks for the reply. I have the version 3s and was considering getting the newer version in the hopes of having a clearly brighter output. But if they are as you've stated, it's minimal and hard to tell the difference, I won't bother. It's not worth the money (or worth getting my knuckles scraped up installing them.)

can you share some pictures please? side by side comparison will help a lot..

3 Attachment(s)
FYI, as I have stated, the camera doesn't show the color "bands".
You will see them with your eye though...

First one is LUX v3, LUX v4 at 5k
Second is LUX v3, LUX v4 at 12K
Last one is LUX v4 at 12k closeup.

I didn't take any photos in the sun... Sorry.

Enjoy.

Selling my v4s, here is the link to the sale on Ebay:

I'm in agreement with 95wildtt, there is a noticeable inconsistent blue/white pattern. However, this isn't an issue until you're more in the middle of the range of the color spectrum (6300k-8800k). After installing last Friday and trying a few different settings, I'm really liking the 5200k setting.

By the way, this is my first post on here! Just picked up the X5M less than a month ago and already caught the mod bug :dunno:

This one is at 6300k. I had it on this setting for the weekend and noticed in certain light the blue/white issue discussed earlier so I dropped down two settings to 5200k. If you like this color you'd probably like the more consistent 5700k setting. It is nice to have the flexibility of choosing different settings until you find one you like.

For sure

My e46 has 6500k and I think they are perfect
Wanna hunt some 22" black chrome rims then do the LUXs on the E70

I notice that it's hard to actually see the smaller inner ring on V4 compared to OEM yellow. You can actually see the ring when lighted up on the OEM. But on the V4, the ring is not clearly defined. it looks like normal round headlights..

Does it look better in person. I want to be able to clearly see the double rings.
