2013 X5 M-Sport (with some minor mods)

I'm fairly new to XOutpost, but I'm not new to BMW's. I traded my '11 M3 for the '13 X5 because I needed a change (...I am admittedly over M3's having owned so many) and have always wanted to own/mod an X5. I was not aware of how inactive the X segment of the BMW population is, but I'm trying to acquire every bit of knowledge that I can to help pave the way on my mod journey. Many members have been extremely helpful, and I hope to be able to give back as I make changes to the truck. Nonetheless, here are a few pics of my X with some upgrades (...22's, H&R suspension, 20mm rear/12mm front spacers, Macht Schnell 90mm Competition Stud Kit, etc.), so I hope you enjoy them. I'm doing an X5M front bumper with a Vorsteiner CF front lip within the next month, along with some Stage 2 custom tuning by BMS. I'll also be upgrading to a set of MORR Deep Concave 1-piece wheels within the next month/month & a half (...I don't really want to go the 3-piece route; failures scare me), so my two week old 22's will be up for sale very soon. Credit to EAS for the photos.

What do you mean? :dunno: My car is less than a month old. I don't have license plates yet.

Congrats M3, car looks great, I'm picking up my new 50i M-sport next week. I have a question for you not sure if you know this or not but after putting on the spacers did you have to do a re-allignment?

Thanks jazzy! The spacers haven't affected my alignment at all (..the drop did slightly, but not enough for me to be concerned about). I know some people are pro-alignment regardless, but I have yet to ever experience premature wear because of a modest drop and/or spacers (..and a lil' more camber on the X would be a good thing in my opinion). Now, a more aggressive drop? Definitely! Spacers alone? Naw! All that does it widen the track, and thus, your footprint, but it "shouldn't" affect tire wear.

X5 front spoiler

Hey - Im also thinking about the X5M front spoiler and I know its been done and Id love to hear your experience if you do it.

As far as I can tell

1) You need the M front spoiler
2) You will need the side arch inserts left and right and you will need to cut them to fit the X5M bumper.

Go park next to an X5M and youll see what I mean by #2 above

3) There are several X5M bumpers (2 I believe) and I for the life of me cant figure out which one is the one that makes sense.

4) You will need to figure out what to do with the fog lights (in this mod you dont need to change headlights) - perhaps a LED strip in the air intake of the new bumper might work?

Keep us posted as there are a few of us whod like to do this.

Do you have pics of your old 22's?

Nevermind. Read your post wrong.

I will definitely detail my experience with this because the other member from Germany who performed this retrofit is non-responsive as are the guys over at PSI who performed this on the 5.0. Nobody wants to provide any detail, so I'll trail blaze for the forum myself so that you guys know what you're in for. I'll have my shop take pics of whatever custom work needs to be completed.

As for cutting.....I hope that's not the case, but if it needs to be cut so be it. :D The X5M arches are shorter than my/our M-Sport arches, so I don't really think cutting will be necessary. PSI nor the member from Germany needed to have the X5M's fender extensions cut. About the only thing that might need some altering are the corners of the bumper (..see pics below; the X5M's bumper line near the reflector is a few millimeters inward/off line). I also don't plan on connecting my fog lights (...I'm assuming they can be detached). If it throws a code I will have EAS fix it.

I mean they could have used the same plates they used in the front, at least just for the photo op... either way, your X looks hot...
