you need to document issue while it is under warranty, as if the same thing pops up after warranty, you will have something to fall back in your claim that they failed to provide adequate diagnosys while the car was under warranty

Same thing happened to my 09 few months back. It stopped working and when we took it there it started working again so they said that there was nothing that could do since it was working and the BMNA would not cover the parts since they were in working condition. What do you know, last month, few days before my warranty was over it stopped again. This time they changed the Blower and it's been working just fine since. Good luck !

This morning i came in for my appointment. My regular SA, who told me the other day that they can't do anything until we have a problem to go with, he was not there, so i met the new SA, i told him the story and he decided to give me a loaner and keep mine for an inspection. He told me recently they have many E70's with the blower motors or resistors issue.

Fixed Maybe give the new CA a $20 gift card for lunch, or some other nice personal touch that isnt over the top.... or just make it clear you appreciated how he handled it. |
This happened to me recently on my '04 545i. I initially blamed the FSR (Final Stage Resistor) and changed it out to no avail. While it was out, I tested the blower on my power supply and it worked fine. So, I incorrectly assumed it must be a faulty IHKA module and change that out, still no joy. All that was left was the blower motor. Change it out and bingo all is good. From now on, I will always change FSR and blower motor together. On the E60, each part cost about $108 (my discounted dealer price).
When I had the faulty blower motor out the second time, I did a more thorough inspection and noticed one brush was cocked in the holder (or more precisely the holder was cocked to one side). The brush wore unevenly to the point it could no longer make good contact on the commutator. |
