2009 4.8l transmission trouble

Does anybody have an issue with their transmission. When you are coming to a stop. Just right before you stop the car lurches foward or bucks foward. Its been to BMW at least 3 or 4 times. Reprogram trans. Reset driving habits. Still does it.

The car has 55,000 miles. Been doing this for over a year now

I had this issue. Dealer reprogrammed and issue has never appeared again.

They reprogram twice so far and it still does it.

I've got a slightly different problem. When I'm in park with the parking brake on and turn the engine off the car sometimes rocks forward.

Maybe happens once every ten times I turn the car off.

These cars should not be doing this. For the price we paid for them. I feel BMW transmissions are not very good at all. My 2000 X5 4.4 had to be rebuilt at 110,000. And this lifetime fluid is for the birds

I have the same problem on my 2009 diesel

I thought it was just the parking brake engaging or re-engaging or something

Is this a sign of future transmission problems to come? If so, I have to seriously consider trading in for another car
-liftgate wire harness issue
-transmission lurking
-previously broken axle & control arm upon days of buying the car

Mine was weird and then I did the tranny reset and it got a lot better immediately

atreidy 08-08-2013 12:55 PM

Is tranny reset only performable by the dealer, or can we do it ourselves?

Suge206 08-08-2013 01:13 PM

I did it my self. its like hold the start button with the gas pedal down for 1 min or something similar until you hear a reset. you can search for it on this site.
