Good deal on new x5d?

Hi,

I was doing some shopping today on a new 2013 x5d. Msrp is $70k. They are selling it after Eco and loyalty credit for $66k after taxes / fees etc.

Is this a good deal?

$500 over invoice before incentives and taxes and fees is a fair deal.

In the NY, NJ, PA, VA and MD area you can get a 2013 35d for 0.89 times MSRP, before ECO credit of $3,500 and loyalty cash of $1,000.

I looked at ALL of them over the past 2 weeks ... but can't find one with Adaptive Drive and Self leveling suspension ...

basora, that's interesting.

So if MSRP is $67k, invoice is about $62k (these are slightly round numbers from a car I was looking at), my starting point before eco and loyalty is $2k below invoice? Are there other discounts going on that aren't publicized? Or is BMW trying to unload inventory which doesn't make sense since the next model d won't be out till next year...

Yes! Correct.

This is truly a clearance event. They have over a thousand vehicles to get rid of to make room for the 2014 (not yet on the showroom floor).

See attached example:
MSRP: $66,225 (New 2013 BMW X5 xDrive35d For Sale in Fairfax VA | 5UXZW0C59D0B96122 | Serving Washington DC)
Advertised selling Price: $58,951
Factor: 0.89 times MSRP

Beautiful car BTW, I almost bought it but it doesn't have the suspension I want. Note that under Sport Package it says specifically "sport suspension - delete" (that means no Adaptive Drive!). There isn't a single new diesel in the entire USA that has AD. Some have Self Leveling suspension (NOT the same as AD), but you will end up with a 3rd row seat.

... and this is BEFORE $3,500 ECO credit and $1,000 loyalty cash (must be previous BMW owner) ...

Other dealers in the area are matching these prices.

One more word of advise: if you are trading, negotiate the trade separately! The dealers will excite you with an attractive new car price, but will rape you on your trade. I've been getting "trade-in" appraisal that are 10% BELOW Manheim wholesale prices. Deal transparency is key: ask to see the Manheim prices BEFORE you accept the trade offer.

Then they get you on "dealer doc fees" ... separate story but same issue: everything is negotiable ... pay what you think is reasonable.

GL.

Another good place to find some numbers is cars direct.com...while it will not tell you what inventory is around, it will give you numbers you can use. I always build them online there and then check the numbers. Typically they show you most of the "money in the trunk". As well, a print out in hand when walking into the dealer will force them to play or get out.

I have bought (leased) my wife's last three vehicles from cars direct as dealers would not negotiate and I was able to get it from carsdirect with a discount and great lease rate. It's a little tough walking back into the same dealer and seeing the salesman who said no to you whilst you pick up exactly what you wanted and know he's not getting a dime. Last time the sales manager pulled me aside and asked that I please just come to him directly when this lease is up as he wants to beat the number i get online. The only downside is other than signing paperwork, the dealer just hands me the keys and I drive off, no orientation (though this last care came with full service as they do see it as the third purchase I made from the dealer).

As a rule of thumb I always use their site to gather information before I go to try and negotiate and if they can't beat the deal, I know i can get the car for the advertised price on the Carsdirect website.....

Are you positive that price doesn't include Eco? The pdf you posted states "prices include rebates and incentives" in the middle of the second page.

I see also they have one listed in their specials section, it works out to be around .89 also, but then they say you can save another $1,000 "if BMW loyal"...so I would take that to mean that the eco is included there also.

On the silver one above, invoice should be around $61k, less eco would bring it to $57.5k...so that would be about $1.5k over invoice...if it's already factored in.

:iagree: That selling price included the eco credit.

"Plus tax, tags, freight. $499 Dealer processing fee extra. Prices include rebates and incentives.

And if you're a member of CCA for a year prior to purchase, they'll send you a check for $1k.
