New to the forum and offering a new exhaust idea
2 Attachment(s)
I read through pretty much every post that mentioned something on exhaust systems and like many other I wanted to hear the throaty V8 grunt. Like many I couldn't bring myself to drop thousands on one, so coming from American muscle car heritage I decided to stick with what I know Flowmaster. No where on this forum did I find anything on someone officially installing a Flowmaster muffler.
Many decide to go straight pipes but it seemed that there was some rasp in the exhaust, which I wanted to avoid, then X-pipe, resonator delete, etc. I could go on with everyone's take and concoction. To offer up my decision, I decided I would go with a Flowmaster 10 series, yes 10 series, it's basically a race pipe 6" long by 9" wide. I ended up with the offset in and out 2.5" diameter. Also I wanted to get a quad tip out look so I found a set of tips from Red Tail Performance, they take some hacking and slashing to fit but they were the look I wanted. The welding was less than perfect but... yeah I didn't want to heckle too much as how much am I really going to see them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1R4GyjS3HjE I know the purest hate this, but I love it. |
What I did on my n55 is took the valve off the passenger side and put it on the midpipe so above 3000rpm it's basically a straight pipe and that's above the point of drone.
Also since I have a downpipe under the 3000 it's still a deeper tone especially since there is no valve on half the muffler anymore It sounds amazing. |
