2011 e70 recalls?
 

Hi all,

just took my X in for brake fluid flush and they had 2 recalls that they wanted to perform and after 4 hours of waiting they said the engine needs to be removed for 1 of the recall, asked the advisor what it was and he said something about VANOS solenoid but he was going to get more details for me. and the second recall was for reprogramming.

Does anyone have any information on either one?
Currently on a loaner and they told me to give them at least until tomorrow..:dunno:

Is this a gas or diesel?

Advisor mentioned that BMW only gave them green light for this recall last week.

Quick update,

they haven't told me yet the details of the recall, the engine is out but parts are not in stock! hurray for a well planned job.:fired:

Parts coming in tomorrow morning now.
Will update once I have more details.

Shucks, can you check in to see if the recall affects other model years. VANOS Solenoids has been a recurring problem for me. Mine is a 2008 3.0si

will ask them tomorrow when I pick mine up hopefully.

VANOS Recall is well known with the n55 Engine: the screws might break and kill your engine while driving as the Variable Nockenwellensteuerung doesn't work properly anymore.

Google it.

Thanks TinyRK, I was not aware of it, just read some old news regarding the recall but I find it strange if the dealer has just started doing them..

Until YOU see the engine OUT of the car, assume the SA is LYING to you to make himself seem more important or to cover up the fact they are doing other higher paying jobs and letting yours languish.

Yes, I am aware of that recall but if I remember correctly it was only for the 2010-11 model years. Mine are 2008 and 2009. So just wondering if they extended the recall to other model years.
