I said it is and quoted from the what is not covered page on BMW NA site. it states "glass - side, sliding roof, rear and mirrors (except for electrical/electronic components);"

they say their book says not covered. i say BMW NA says it is covered. Help anyone.

BMW NA via customer relations tells me they dont determine this but rely on the dealerships.

My guess is that you have the pre Jan 01, 2014 CPO ...

If that is the case, the BMW EVP/CPO warranty booklet you should have received with the car is clear: mirror, glass and lenses - not covered. Anything electrical - not covered. Your side mirror is all of these things.

The old CPO just excluded "mirrors"...the new one excludes 'mirrors, except drive components'.

One could argue the new CPO language was changed to CLARIFY, they may argue 'no the new language expanded coverage'.

Did you drop the car off, agree to $$$ and now find yourself trapped? Valuable lesson- always determine your financial exposure, never assume.

Explain to BMWNA that it isnt the dealer wthat will get reported to XYZ state agency if they refuse to honor the warranty... this will be a 'squeaky wheel' effort, IMO.

Amen brother! I like the idea of making a multi-million dollar company honor their marketing rhetoric of quality, precision, and blah blah......

I never liked the argument that we should subscribe to a "pay to play with BMW" attitude. I want reliable quality with my Ultimate Driving Machine.

If we consistently pressure the company to deliver on this promise instead of researching the next generation of heated nipple warmers for Richie Rich owners....they may just deliver on that promise.

:iagree:

Also, I think you should try another dealer. Then agree to take more of your future repairs there if they treat you fairly. Do you get a BMW CCA discount on parts? That may help.

Best of luck dude

I read the booklet again. I stand corrected ... For pre 2014 CPO, electrical is covered!

not directly related but... have a tire/wheel warranty sold by a dealer at the time of lease through a third insurance company. original sale in NJ. took the car to a PA dealer, for tires - they honored the warranty, fixed minor issue.
later, one of the tires blew on highway, took to one dealer in VA - they suggested me pay $350 per tire for two front tires and deal with warranty myself... took to another dealer in the area, (just a wheel, so I did not drag the car around town!), they replaced the tire and I paid only tax, $18. Point is - try another dealer...

Confused. My x5 is pre '14. In one comment, mirrors, electrics, etc are not covered, then here you say electrical is

If there is any support material I could use that you say electrics are, can you post it here?

Your car may be pre 2014, but it is the CPO date that matters.

You should've received a CPO booklet when you purchased your car - but here's a summary.

Bought my '09 in Sept '13. Covered electrical or nor?

I think it's time that you excert some effort to review the documentation that came with your car when you purchased it ... read it .... understand it ... and if you still have questions or need clarification ... ask us.

It's impossible for us to give you a definitive answer without the benefit of your contractually binding documents ...

^ Good advice.

points for correcting the record.

The key thing is that the CPO document is descriptive not proscriptive. There are parts that dont fit the name in the CPO document- so ther is interpretation. BWMNA has proceduralized much of this, so when a part is entered they declare 'not covered'- but arguments can be made...and good warranty managers can be creative.
