Playing Music in my X5

Hello, I am newbie here. I have 08 X5

Just wondering if I could play music files burned in DVD-RW in 6 DVD changer in globe box. I am pretty sure I can play music files burned in CD-RW, but not sure about DVD-RW.
Comparing 700MB for CD and 4GB for DVD makes huge difference, since I don't have usb port or streaming bluetooth with 6 DVD changer and CCC iDrive.

Is anyone have better way to play music in earlier e70?

Thanks,

I'm pretty sure most E70's came with an AUX input alone without a USB input, I have the USB input so I'm not entirely sure of this

it should play CDRW but not sure have DVD anything really
i've tried burned, retail and my hard drive to play movie's and can't get them to work.. just says not supported
i have USB so i plug a portable hard drive in with a ton of songs and play that way
sounds like CDRW or and AUX cable is ur best option

I didn't know you could do that, I thought you had to plug in a USB and AUX for the iDrive to be able to play it :dunno:

Mr.X5_3.0si, would you care to explain this setup a little?
I do use the USB for my iPhone, so about the same approach.

Are you saying I could just get a USB drive and leave it permanently connected to the center console USB port?

Also, have you found there to be a drive size limitation?
Whats the size of the drive that you are using?

(Any reference to manual page would help as well, for future folks)

I think you were meant to quote Mr.X5_3.0si regarding this, but I am also interested in his setup and how it works

I think mine doesn't have hard drive.. It really sucks that only cdrw will work.. I will try DVD tonight and puts some updates on the thread.

Thanks for reply guys!

I made an MP3 CD with Multiple folders and it only reads 1 folder, and it also skips a lot!

Yes you can do that...it was what I did with my 2008 4.8i. I had a 32gb flash drive with all my music organized in folders and left it connected in the center armrest. You can access the drive through the NAV by going to AUX and then USB. Just make sure the drive is formatted in FAT32. This only pertains to flash drives, I have no idea whether or not external HDDs work.
