X6 Release Dates Confirmed
My dealer read out a fax over the phone for me today that listed information on the X6.
There will be two versions, a 3.0 (due spring 08) and a 4.4 (due Summer 08). We were both surprised by the 4.4 engine and weren't sure if it was a typo, but it was repeated twice in the fax. Can anyone else confirm this information? I was hoping to bypass the X5 and get one by January but that won't be the case unfortunately. Cheers, R |
I hope LeMans comes back with different info. I was hoping for the 4.8 (4.4  ) in first quarter '08. I can't wait until summer. :saad:

The N64B44O1(4.4 litre bi-turbo V8) engine will be delivering about 420 HP and 420 ft.lbs of Torque. The 3.0 litre engine will be the 3.0 litre bi-turbo I6 (N54B30O1) engine with 300 HP and ft.lbs of Torque. |
Did he actually show you the fax?
I have not heard anythig like that. I think he just wants you to buy the X5 now rather than wait. Dealers do these games a lot. Not the first time I have heard of this. Let's see, X5 debut was August 8th, 2006. X5 was in showrooms mid-November, 2006. Both X5 and X6 are made in Spartanburg. If X6 was built in Germany, then you could say that it will be a while. This should give you an idea. ;) |

I was speaking to him on the phone so did not see the fax personally. However he is not bmw Tech savvy, so he would not have said 4.4 engine for the X6 in the summer and then questioned if it was a typo because he expected it to say 4.8. From what the other posts have said above regarding bi turbo engines, I am enclined to believe this is true. The delay might be in the engine production itself, since I have no heard of the 4.4 turbo. |
Where is the V10? :driver:
