It looks great with the black interior :wow: Thanks guys :)

I appreciate the feedback too. I lease so I'm not so concerned about the long term with scratches, and I am pretty careful but I still wouldn't be happy if the trim started looking nasty. I'm thinking the bracelet on my right wrist and my watch on the left could be a problem. And I do lean my left arm on the door. Burns and scratches for one hot looking ride.

Decisions, decisions

Way too much going on here for me. :yikes: Especially since no sports package. That interior color with the black and the light grey headliner....Nope.

I am never geting a BMW without black/anthracite headliner. The light standard material feels like sandpaper. I think its worth paying the extra $500 for black headliner.

Is this is the same red enterior used for the E9x? Looks darker, esp in the third pic. Is red interior for the E70 special order (ie. $4500 extra), or just one that requires special ordering?

Had Aluminium Trim in our Z4M - and I can only agree with what others have said - it scratches easily. I am not careful with our cars but never managed to scratch any visible surfaces - however, the area between the seats did pick up a few dings from people putting on their seatbelts.

I have the dotted Aluminium trim in the X3 and haven't had trouble with it. Yes, if you hit the seat belt on it often, it will probably scratch. I only have one small nick from where my watch hits the door handle when I switch off the headlamps, that's it. I don't imagine it being that hard to maintain as long as one is careful. Then again, I'm more careful than most folks I suppose, i.e I make sure not to slam the doors too hard and I wait for the headlamps to auto-level before starting the vehicle.

I think LeMansX5 showed an X6 interior which has the Chateau Red Leather, not available on the X5. The 3er has Rotbraun or Chestnut Red, and the M3 has Fox Red Leather, which is slightly darker than the regular 3er. And its still too sporty for me in the M3......I'll have the standard black Alcantara/Leather.

To those of you that have the aluminum trim

If you were going to lease a car for 2 or 3 years, are the scratches enough to keep you from doing it again?

I need to call my SA and have him keep an eye out for someone in for service so I can see what it looks like with wear and tear.

Yup... The heat is a pain on a hot day, and the better half has managed to do this in only 18 months. She has some jewelery that bumps every now and again when she puts her bag on the passenger floor.... I think it looks crappy hence why we are looking to swap it out...

Cheers

Yikes, that looks terrible.

cmyX6go 06-18-2009 05:26 AM

Ouch...maybe I should reconsider.
