Ouch ... mind doesn't look that bad. I've had a few dents and minor scratches. It seems to get worse everytime I take it to the dealer. Theres a surprise ...huh?!

I'm going to replace it all with the new carbon black leather as available on the new x5m/x6m .. when it becomes available. Had that on my 2008 M3, and it looks great. Will be a pricey upgrade me-thinks.

I have had brushed aluminum in my X for about 6 months, and no scratches here. It does get hot at times, but nothing you can't handle.

BTW, here is the X5 I had initially paid a deposit on (But did not get it because the red was TOO flashy). I do wish I had gotten it at times, but I am waiting for my X5 M :bmw: :driver:

I don't think its just red. Its the red and black combo which makes it flashy or very sporty.

Had Aluminium Trim in our Z4M - and I can only agree with what others have said - it scratches easily. I am not careful with our cars but never managed to scratch any visible surfaces - however, the area between the seats did pick up a few dings from people putting on their seatbelts.

Thanks guys. It seems LVR is the minority here. Did you give your wife the rules for driving the X? Or do rules not apply to the CEO ;)

I'd love to hear from other owners.

What will I do? I have a few months to decide. I am liking the look.

I like the Brushed Aluminum best out of the current trim options available, but for my X5 M, I will be getting black carbon fiber or possibly piano black.

And pray tell what rules might that be?

The dings on the passenger side are from the passenger seat belt (as mentioned by others)... and obviously she doesn't drive from that side...

You know, the rules that are printed and kept in the glove box for any passengers. I'll need to update mine should I decide to go with this trim. Just joking with you. We're all so anal with our rides. Besides, If she's driving, it's her rules. :)
