Just been told that its week 46 that will be the new 2010 spec cars so mine will be the old version, very pissed off now and canceling the order.

If you're that pissed, tell them you don't want a 2009 and wait for a 2010.

Tasker, I don't know in which week your new vehicle was built, but I have a copy of BMW's "Product Planning and Strategy Bulletin Model Year 2010 X5 and X6" dated August 13, 2009, sitting in front of me on my desk (Bulletin # B-10-0809-10-X5&X6-01). It says "We are pleased to announce that Model Year 2010 X5 and X6 vehicles are now available for dealer ordering. Both series start production in October 2010 and will begin to arrive at Centers at the end of October". The bulletin then goes on to specify msrp price changes (no change for any X5's, but $400 more for both X6 xDrive35i and X6 xDrive50i), along with technical changes for all models (i-drive as debuted on all the new 7 Series, top view camera added to rear view, HD radio added as standard, option 5AC automatic high beams now available for $250, option 2VA adaptive drive is available for $3,500, price of 610 head-up display is increased by $100 to $1,300, and price of 655 satellite radio is reduced from $595 to $350). It then goes on to specific changes to X5 and X6 specific model changes for 2010.

Therefore, if your X vehicle was built on or after week 41 (first week of October, 2009), it will be a 2010 model.

Hope this helps.

I specificly asked about the new nav and I drive system, they told me it was ONLY on the 7 and wouldn't be going on the X6 so with that info I ordered the car, within three weeks the X6 has the new nav and I drive on.
I've asked for a refund and canceled the order, this is the second time I've had trouble trying to buy a new BMW, and it's us drivers that get the bad rep'!

Not sure why there is the difference that the UK dealer is telling me on the 2010 production is week 46 and not 41, maybe the right hand drive market is getting the rest of the old stock cleared first, which makes no sense as it was meant to be built to order?

That sucks :( It's a shame the dealer was misinformed. Can you just have them order a 2010 model for you? They are already in production so the wait can't be that long...Good luck.

I asked about that, even offered to move up to a bigger engine so it wouldn't seem like I was just being picky but they want a further £3000 to just reorder the same car, they tried to convince me they had told me about the changes when I ordered, lying cheating dealers here in the UK, never again.

I ordered my car (X5) in September asking that it had the new Idrive and was told it goes in production from 1/10/09, its now ready to be shipped so apparently on a boat in the states waiting. Dealer thinks 10 days for shipping and a further 10 days to make its way through to dealer and onto me so in reality it appears to be around a 6 week turnaround.

Your UK dealer should have received the same bulletin as my US Pennsylvania dealer. All X5 and X6 vehicles that were built on or after week 41 (no matter where they are going) are 2010 models. Factory is re-tooled during summer break, so 2009 models cannot be built after factory re-opens in very late September/first week of October. Right or left hand drive, diesel or petrol should not make any difference.

The Stealer principle had apparently got one on order when I was looking at ordering mine, I think they are trying to palm the old one he ordered off on me so he can have the new build slot one that I was expecting, funnily enough they seemed to have forgotten that part of the conversation today when I spoke to them.

Does anyone have a contact number of the factory so I can at least get it direct from BMW that the 2010 run was while mine should have been built.

Tasker, the only number I have is for BMWUSA (800-831-1117) and that may work since all vehicles are built here in South Carolina. I will ask them if they could provide me with a number you could call from the UK to ascertain whether or not your ordered vehicle is a 2010 model. Can't promise anything, but for a fellow BMW enthusiast, I'll see what I can do.

Stay tooned...
