Can't promise anything, but for a fellow BMW enthusiast, I'll see what I can do.

Stay tooned...

Hi Tasker,
OK, I called BMWUSA and was given a phone number you can call in the UK to check to see if your ordered vehicle is a 2009 or 2010 model. It is:
0800325600. You will need either VIN or production number to get info. If that phone number does not work, try 800-831-1117. I was told that the US office here has info on all vehicles built in South Carolina, including those for international destinations. Best of luck.

I found out today that my X6 5.0 has entered the paint shop, so it should be finished by end of this week.

Thanks very much, I'm calling BMW UK tomorrow.
Unfortunately I've just checked the paperwork and there is no order number on it, its just blank, chassis number missing too, makes me think the car I'm to get is already built and not the fresh ordered one I thought I was getting

Heard from contacts in the dealer that they know they have fucked up on this but don't want to admit it, done it with some Mini's too, if people didn't know they just said nothing and let them go away in the dark.

I'll try the number tomorrow and see if they can help though without anything but my name and dealer's name.

Was so looking forward to this too, had a few shitty years and a lung cancer treatment (cure, fingers crossed) for my mum and this was to be a nice treat at the end of it all :(

Sounds to me like your UK dealer is taking you for granted. Not acceptable. Maybe you should think about taking your business to another dealer in the UK. I went out of my way to order my X6 from a dealer that is 114 miles from where we live, in spite of the fact that there is a BMW dealer one mile from our residence in Fairfax, Virginia. I don't like the fact that the local dealer did not negotiate ("this is what we'll sell it to you for") nor do they offer anything close to the "after the sale" customer service that SunMotorCars BMW in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania does to all of their customers, whether they live near or far. I operate my own consulting firm, and have always treated my clients as I would expect to be treated. I won't patronize any firm that does not live by that rule.

As far as tracking your currently ordered vehicle, I don't think that you will necessarily have to have your VIN or production number. I know this because my name, salesperson, and name of dealer appear along with my production number on my order confirmation, they can look it up with that info alone.

After a few days spent pulling out my hair the dealer has admitted to misleading me and have said they still want the business but it will cost more now though :( or I can just walk away with my deposit and find another dealer.

Still to decide who I go with but the spec will be.

Good luck. I hope it works out for you this time. FWIW there was a price increase and a change in packages for 2010 so hopefully that is the additional $ and not the dealer being cute.

I know what I would do...which is what I did. I found another dealer who not only gave me a better price, but got me production slot that will get me a new X6 5.0 within four weeks of placing my order (it is being built and supposed to be finished tomorrow). Here is the list of changes to the US spec 2010 X6 vs. the 2009. I think that these changes will be the same worldwide.

msrp. is $400 US more than 2009
Power tailgate is now added as standard equipment
Power tailgate is removed from the Premium Package. The package price is reduced by $400 US
The Rear View Camera is amended with Top View. The X6 35i Technology Package price is increased by $200 to $2,200. 3AH Rear View Camera with Top View is priced at $600 on X6 5.0.
ZAP Sport Activity Package is available for $1,900 on the X635i and $1,400 on the X65.0. The contents are:
1.Differentiated styling 19" wheels
2.Front center grills in titanium color
3.Sports seats (X635i only, since it is included in 5.0)
4.Shadowline exterior trim
5.Anthracite headliner
The price of the Sport Package is increased by $900 to $4,600 on the X635i and $4,100 on the X65.0.
Option 7RR Performance Upgrade is available for $1,500 on both X6 petrol models

Of course, some of the above may not pertain to the 35d in the UK. But I think that the package options and prices will carry over worldwide...at least that is what I was told my BMW.

Best of luck.

Well done. Now make sure that they never forget that you gave them a second chance.
