X6 2011 will start production in week 14. Orders can be made already from next week.

I'm very curious to try out this new ZF 8-speed automatic. When Lexus came out with it, it was criticised for having too many gears and being unable to make up its mind. Hopefully ZF and BMW can get it right. A decrease in fuel consumption is always important and it should also allow the engineers to make the gear ratios closer to each other, so ripping up mountain passes should be even more driving joy.

How accurate is this? I have to make a decision, buy a nicely loaded '10 50i now or pay virtually same price for the '11. ugh...in May??? :yikes:

Delivery will be in June, not may. It seems far away but time is racing so fast! Better to wait. They are changing a lot in the car.

Where do u live? UK?

If you order today you will get it in May. So the difference is 1 or 2 months. Why dont you rent a car while you wait? Well, it also depends on whether the changes are important to you. For the 50i, the biggest change with the new model is the new 8 speed gearbox. It changes much faster and thus also has a much quicker 0-60 time as compared to the current X6.

New options also will be Active cruise control with Stop and Go (current model has only STOP), and Side View options.

your call.

AZN, I fully agree. I am sure that BMW has tuned it nicely to fit their cars. The only issue i had with my current 535d was the gearbox. It changed from 1 to 2 too slowly. Now with the new 8 speed, the 0-60 times appear faster, so they have adressed the issue. I also read that the 8 speed gearbox almost matches the speeds of the dual clutch gearbox system - and thats quite an achievement.

If the speed is that high then switching more frequently between gears is not disturbing. Loads of fun too with the steer paddles.
